Cumbrae is sometimes called 'Bicycle Island' and with good reason. The island's small size and flat perimeter road make it an ideal location for pleasant cycling. And the small amount of motor traffic make it safe.

There are three cycle hire shops in Millport with an estimated stock in excess of 1,000 bikes, not to mention the bikes owned by local residents and those brought over by visitors. During the summer you will see more bikes than cars on Great Cumbrae!
